notes / memories

Ok so I'm the one coming up short tonight, so I took this photo. This is what I see right beside my computer. As you can tell, I love accents of red - my favorite little red pen, a big red heart, tiny red berries, bold red books (just because they look good on the shelf) - and there's more red all around the room. The quote that is sitting there is something I wrote on a post over 10 years ago and it's been around ever since. "Do not wish to be anything but what you are, and try to be that perfectly." - St. Frances de Sales. That's a good motto don't you think? / "she carries a lot of suitcases but all of them are empty because she's expecting to completely fill them with life by the end of this trip & then she'll come home & sort everything out & do it all again"- story people
mom surprised me by ordering this for me from a vintage etsy shop. my friends were with me when i got it and we all took guesses as to what was inside the big bubble wrapped package. we were right. i'm going to fill mine with college memories. (and there will be some epic photo shoots to come using this bright orange suitcase.)

Another perfect pairing. I love glimpses into other people's spaces. The little peeks into their daily world. It satisfies a voyeuristic urge, I guess. I especially love the peaks into your lovely world.

red accents are my favorite.

yes that is a good quote. i especially like that it strives towards perfection...not that we expect to meet it but that we try.

Red is my favorite color! I love the suitcase too.

The two ways Taylor mentioned using the new suitcase makes me think about motherhood.

Using it to hold her memories from college reminds me of how mother's are the keepers of childhood memories and using in photographs as a part of the scene, makes me think of how as mothers, we are always a part of the bigger picture even as we become secondary to the main action or central theme.

How can I reach you by email, I have a photograph I want to send you. My blog has an email link at the top, but I can't find yours.

It's nice to get a peek into your interior! Nice symbolism also in the picture of a comfortable "homey" home for the mum and a travelling suitcase for the daughter, who has yet to settle down...

What a gorgeous little suitcase...that is so great that you surprise your daughter like that. How thoughtful.
