things lost / fresh starts

T- iphone / L- iphone

I think I've lost what little following I had, but I don't blame you... there's been nothing to follow here. But I do have a little bit of an explanation. My computer went down over a month ago and with everything else that was going on (graduation, wedding planning, apartment searches, over-time at work, festival preparations, etc) I just didn't want the stress of dealing with it, or thinking its ultimate doom . So it sat. It's empty black screen sat right there until this past weekend when I finally took it to PeachMac. They called yesterday with the sad news – the hard drive is dead and they can't retrieve anything from it. And even more sad is the fact that I wasn't good about regular backups. You all know what that means... lots and lots, and lots, of photos are gone... forever. Luckily many of my photos are on flickr and FB - thank goodness!
So here I am sneaking in a little post at work just so you know that I still exist... along with bunny and daisy and taylor and evee and kodi — we're all here. I hope you all have been well and are enjoying the transition out of summer into fall – summer vacations past and holidays ahead.
I hope to be back soon with a new hard drive and fresh start in my computer world and more news of the fresh starts in our lives.

We're back. Sort of. I am still without a computer at home but I found time to sneak in a few posts at work : ).
Taylor is home. Putting in applications to find a job, meeting with the administrator at Creative Circus (hoping to go to grad school there in the winter) and helping around the house. But she's enjoying some down time too.

This was the first watermelon I have had all summer. Do you enjoy yours with salt or without, eat it with a spoon or a fork and knife? / waiting out the days in athens. papers are turned in, finals are tomorrow and family will be here for commencement on saturday. hotel life isn't so bad for the moment.

city / country

A single puffy cloud in my vision from my work-day window / the stay at the empty house wasn't all bad. i awoke to this sight from the bedroom window.

its not home/ it was home

In Atlanta Daisy waits... looking, hoping to see Taylor drive up. / this place was the closest to home all of my days in athens... now i have to leave it behind. onward and upward.

It was a rough last week - as far as sleeping arrangements went.
Taylor went from sleeping in her nicely furnished apartment to having to sleep on the floor on her mattress with nothing but her computer and a small table, then because the landlord wouldn't let her stay through the end of finals, and commencement, she had to sleep in her sleeping bag in her empty apartment for two nights. A girl offered her empty house so that Taylor wouldn't have to pay for a hotel for the last week. But what Taylor didn't know was that it no furniture at all, had no cell service and the water didn't work. She stayed there one night in her sleeping bag on the floor but had to move into a hotel for the last few days until commencement so that she could sleep well and be ready for finals. All this while having to study for finals.

The photos on the left are taken by me, Leslye, the mother. The photos on the right are taken by my daughter, Taylor – unless otherwise noted. Comments are always welcome. thanks
