things lost / fresh starts

I think I've lost what little following I had, but I don't blame you... there's been nothing to follow here. But I do have a little bit of an explanation. My computer went down over a month ago and with everything else that was going on (graduation, wedding planning, apartment searches, over-time at work, festival preparations, etc) I just didn't want the stress of dealing with it, or thinking its ultimate doom . So it sat. It's empty black screen sat right there until this past weekend when I finally took it to PeachMac. They called yesterday with the sad news – the hard drive is dead and they can't retrieve anything from it. And even more sad is the fact that I wasn't good about regular backups. You all know what that means... lots and lots, and lots, of photos are gone... forever. Luckily many of my photos are on flickr and FB - thank goodness!
So here I am sneaking in a little post at work just so you know that I still exist... along with bunny and daisy and taylor and evee and kodi — we're all here. I hope you all have been well and are enjoying the transition out of summer into fall – summer vacations past and holidays ahead.
I hope to be back soon with a new hard drive and fresh start in my computer world and more news of the fresh starts in our lives.

It's going to be hot hear in Atlanta this weekend, but it's going to be really hot in Athens. And Taylor and I are planning on doing some of her moving this weekend. It's going to be brutal so I sent her a screen capture of the weather forecast. Meanwhile she sent this picstitch image... looks like they're already feeling it. / we're all passed out.

I'm looking forward to the weekend. The forecast looks perfect - highs in the low 70s and lows in the 40s. Those low temperatures are reason enough for a first fire in my mind - I can't wait. I think I'm being over-eager and should probably wait. What about you - are you eager for cozy nights by the fire or does it have to be much colder? / i've found a new friend and her name is lilly. i think i have taken a liking to her since our hair colors match and the fact that she is really wonderful. i'm volunteering at a new rescue center that has just opened up in athens called petzone and i'm really enjoying myself. it's a thrift store and dog rescue place combined, which are two of my favorite things ever! all of the proceeds from the thrift portion go towards saving and taking care of dogs that are on the kill list of other local shelters. i really want to take lilly home, but i guess i'll have to settle with volunteering every day until she gets adopted [:

Well Taylor's kitty has awakened from her timid beginnings - she's a little rascal and quite funny to watch. And I'm glad to say she and Kodi are getting along just fine. They sleep along- side each other by day and chase each other by night. But last night that crazy cat jumped on the counter and up on top of the refrigerator and down behind it - trapped until I finally found, with Kodi's help, where the distressed call was coming from. I had to move the refrigerator out away from the wall, in order to set her free. I hate to think what would have happened if she had done this when I was away. / We have another little trouble maker about. Imagine this cute little bunny rabbit being so naughty. He's eating the daisies down to the ground.

does anyone have a trick for keeping cats off counters and bunnies out of the flower garden?

No not really fierce, but she has been known to be unkind to Evee. 

Both Evee and Kodi love this chair but they would never sleep here together. I wish that they would – wish they would get along. Evee is so sweet and tries to be friends with Kodi but Kodi doesn't know how to behave – she just looks at Evee and then swats her without even being threatened. In fact, just recently Kodi got her right in the eye and made it bleed (it was really bad). I don't think Evee knows what to think about it all. Evee keeps trying to be friends – why is Kodi so mean to me, I was here first?
