coming home

solo post - L

"Home, the spot of earth supremely blest,
A dearer, sweeter spot than all the rest."
~Robert Montgomery

Tonight I freshened T's room for her home coming. The feather bed is fluffed so high I picture her jumping into it and sinking in the smell of lavender scented sheets and breathing in the comforting smell of her beloved Mutsy – ah home.

Oh, I remember coming home. My mother would make a lemon meringue pie (my favorite), a banana cake (my favorite), and we'd have fried okra & home grown tomatoes (my favorites). It was the best! T will remember it the rest of her life.

Isn't there such joy in doing these little things for our daughters? I love changing Sloane's sheets and spritzing them with lavender water so she will go to sleep with sweet scents leading to sweet dreams.
