climb up / spring ahead

solo post - L iphone pic / Nikon D40x

I've been needing to incorporate more exercise in to my daily life. T and I used to do a lot of activities together such as tennis, biking and hiking and now without her here my activity level has really gone down. But I was thinking... I have 18 flights of steps available to me every day - so my goal is to work up to climbing all 18 flights every single day at least once. Right now I start my climb at the 12th floor. I'll add more flights as it becomes easier. / And don't forget to spring ahead. Daylight "shifting" is this Sunday. I do enjoy the longer daylight hours. Hey, maybe that will motivate me to do a little more exercise in the evening - like walking around the block (a good, hilly 1 mile walk) or better yet finding a tennis partner.
What is your daily exercise routine? Do you get more motivated to exercise in the spring?

That sounds like a great idea to add climbing those stairs to your routine. When I was reading your activities with T I read, "...tennis, baking..." Heehee Oh, it's biking!

that's a great idea leslye. i know someone who does the same thing and it's made a big difference for her.

i quit exercising when all the stuff started happening, but i look forward to getting back into it when we move. that and a lot of salads.

Love the cat photo! Maybe a submission for the 2010 Paws for Charity book?
Right now I am forced into daily exercise for a "frozen shoulder". Yuck.
Climbing stairs is a great idea! I do that whenever I can instead of using elevators.

I definitely need to exercise more and with the longer hours, you will be an inspiration for me to get my fanny in gear.

Lovely pairing of shadows and light in these two photos. I've missed your dips!! If only I could just blog read all day, lol.

Springing forward/falling back always messes up the kids schedule. It is not my favorite time of year. I am excited about more day light though. THAT is a very good thing.

Stairs are just the BEST workout. I have started working out more this year...as I get older it seems more and more a priority to look after my body. My workout during winter is generally just confined to running on the treadmill....come on spring!

Oh I certainly do. I teach fitness classes and even I get de-motivated. It's a constant challenge. Good luck to you on the stairs...keep going!

right now, nothing but generally it's the exercise bike and yoga pilates dvds. I walk more in summer, it's been too cold yet. Weight gain motivates me .... I know I should do more

I love to walk. Press my mps3 buds into my ears and go. I sing it out which makes me this small town's crazy lady but that's fine by me. It draws some and keeps others at a safe distance. When the streets are free of ice (late April) I get on my bike and head out to the country. I watch the cows, the horses, the crows. They watch me back.

Holy cow, and I thought my four flights was good, you rock! I really need to get more exercise. since I started getting more into photography I spend way too much time in front of he computer. I'll try to remember to take the stairs all the time now. Thanks for this gentle nudge.

I need to walk more in the winter, but it's really spring when I get going. I'm committing to daily (long) walks because I have a walking vacation in July and I want to enjoy every minute of it.

My legs are aching just thinking of your 18 flights a day. Oh my!

Yes, getting more active, parking farther away from things. My husband and I started a new fitness routine at the start of the new year, power 90x. It has been great for me. So by the time the weather is good again I will be ready for the outside stuff, running and biking, instead of just being a bit pudgy by the time April rolls around. The longer days don't hurt either!

Love the photo - but hate the though of climbing with my bad knee. Good for you! I do walk a couple of miles almost every day. The cat pic is awesome!

That sounds like a great idea! Right now, I do a 55 minute interval class with a friend. We do it in her basement three times a week. I also walk about three miles with my hubby on the weekend. But it just doesn't seem like enough to keep the menopause fat at bay... Aaargh!

Love the photos!
