warm bread / warm chair

solo post - L, Nikon

Today it is chilly outdoors – lots of wind and pending snow in the forecast. But inside it is toasty warm – the warmth of the fire, and the sunshine on the chair invited me to sit and read... but I had work to do. Not dreaded work like laundry or vacuuming, or even taking down Christmas, but finally a chance to get down in my studio and work. After a slice of cranberry bread, fresh out of the oven, I set to work. I'm happy to say it was a very productive day. And honestly, I'm hoping for that snow that is in the forecast. It's just as exciting to miss a work day now as it was to miss a school day in days past, don't you think?

shiny / bright

L - Nikon / T - Canon

I polished up a few of my spin rings, shiny and bright, and now I'm comfortable to share some with you. I'm still working out designs but I'm starting to feel encouraged that I have something wearable. Have you ever worn a spin ring? They really are addictive - fun to play with, especially if you're a fidget. / this is a week of studying and test - i like to come home and light a candle or two. it makes it calming and nice.

warm light / sun light

T- Nikon / L - Nikon

Today her's in on the left and mine is on the right (it just looked better that way)

i love the contrast between the wintry exterior and warm, homey interior. i get to see this lovely light every day now since my classes get out early [: / I guess we were both thinking about the warmth of sunlight and the beauty of it, especially during these cold, cold days. Evee seemed to enjoy that beam of sunlight too. Tomorrow is supposed to be much warmer - into the 40s I think.

refresh / reuse

solo post - L, Nikon

I sometimes have a sense of sadness after Christmas - the packing up of Christmas and the closing of a year can sometimes feel a bit depressing. But after I get started taking it all down, the sun starts to shine a little brighter in my home, I smile and get a feeling of rejuvenation - a sort of refreshed feeling comes about. It feels good. Take a deep breath and breathe new life into this new year - there are a lot of possibilities ahead and they are attainable if I put my mind to it.
It's all cleaned up and there is a sense of calm and peace in the house. It's very cold out there but my fire is burning and it's cozy in here.
And another thing that makes me smile - I take the popcorn/cranberry garland outside for the birds to enjoy.
Hope the New Year is off to a beautiful start for you all.

eagerly await

L - Nikon / T - Nikon

Presents still unwrapped at both houses - ours and my parents - awaiting the arrival of my older brother and his family from Maryland. We will spread the Christmas celebration out by opening gifts at my parents house and then another night opening more gifts at our house. In addition, there will be a birthday dinner for my younger brother's tomorrow and a belated birthday breakfast at our house for the twins who were born on Christmas Eve 9 years ago. We are so fortunate to have time off from work and school for a whole week of fun and to be able to bring in the New Year together as a family with a display of fireworks.
What will you be doing for New Years Eve?

warmth

"Firelight will not let you read fine stories but it's warm and you won't see the dust on the floor." ~Author Unknown

I spent a lot time this evening in front of my fire. I was entranced by it's flicker and it wrapped me it's its warmth to where I couldn't break away. (No worries of the dust on the floor either - I'll tend to that tomorrow.)

Stay warm this weekend.

frosty cold / toasty warm

nikon D40x by L / iphone pic by L
I love the Christmas season - the festive lights outdoors and the glowing warmth indoors. In Frederick, last Friday, it was Frosty Friday and the shops were open late. We enjoyed browsing the streets all-a-glow with twinkling lights. It was so cold outside but to me that just adds to excitement (personally I can't imagine being in a warm climate at Christmas time). When it's cold I can dream of snow. And when it's cold outside, it makes the fire inside all the cozier. This night we walked the streets until our hands and feet were numb and then found a cozy little coffee shop along the Carroll Creek district with a warm fire that served up one of the best cappuccinos I've had in a while - or maybe it was the atmosphere, nonetheless the coffee and the fire warmed us up for the walk back finishing up a wonderful evening. / T is busy with finals - no post or photo from her tonight
