refuge / retreat

L - Nikon / T - Nikon

This little kitty was very shy - she wouldn't venture far from her safety zone, her refuge from the world of over-eager children wanting to play with her. Her brother was a little more accepting of the attention - even let Taylor pick him up. Taylor wanted to take both of them home with her. I hated to say no, but I had to. However she is going to try to place them in loving homes so they will be protected and loved. / i took this photo when i was in southern california a week ago. sad to say it's the only photo i took to speak of. this hotel room was my retreat - rather it was where i was stuck for lack of having a car (too long of a story). we had some good times and i have to admit there were some boring times. that's just the way it goes - summer has some of both.

sweet / happy

solo post - T, Nikon / phone pic

i'm going to miss this sweet boy, but i'm really happy that my uncle is adopting him. my uncle is driving from alabama to meet copper in atlanta tomorrow. i sure hope they bond like we have. he's been my buddy for the last couple of weeks – i've been fostering copper. can you imagine that this sweet dog was on the kill list? all of the dogs at petzone have been saved from the 'kill list' at local shelters. what a wonderful thing kate, the owner, is doing. this is the second dog i have been able to place in homes - and it feels so good.
check out these awesome leather chucks i got at the thrift store (they make my feet look sort of big though - ha).

cool shade / cool rain

L - Nikon / T - Nikon

Taylor's back, at least for a day, and I really love the photo she sent me. It speaks of shelter, fresh, spring, protection, cool breezes, etc - just like my image does - synchronicity?
It was an unusually hot day for the first of May. I was walking around my back yard looking at the changes of growth... the ferns have all unfurled; the wild azaleas have faded - the rhododendrons are now in full bloom; the red buds are full of beautiful heart shaped leaves and little pods hang off the branches; the hydrangeas are budding out and the shasta daisies leaves look healthy. I stopped and sat on my little red bench to enjoy the shade of the beech tree and looked up - layers upon layers of new green that will provide a welcomed shade in the heat of summer. I love this tree – in all the seasons. / monday morning and the rain is a welcome relief from the heat of the weekend. problem is, it made me want to stay in bed and sleep! i guess the good part was that it kept me inside for the majority of the day- essentially guilting me into my school work (studying for finals now) since i had nothing more exciting to do with my time.

sanctuary / shelter

I was amazed when I saw the similarity in these images today.
