yellow / green

L - Nikon / T - Nikon

The color of the week is yellow green. How appropriate. There is new growth all around us. I love this time of the year when the colors of green in the horizon are so varied. But I don't love the haze of yellow green that's in the air - it hangs in the air like a thick cloud and covers everything like a yellow blanket! The pollen count in Atlanta yesterday was 5733 - 120+ is considered extremely high. What? Well, thank goodness we've had a nice rain today to wash it all away. As I look out my office window now, the clouds have lifted and the world is clean and fresh looking, the pavement is grey again instead of pale yellow and once again you can tell that I drive a white car not a yellow one. / i came home yesterday to go to a concert. i had lunch with mom and i also got a haircut, finally. i needed one badly but now it seems so short to me. p.s. there is pollen everywhere, on everything. my green yellow car is now yellow green.

blue skies / gray skies

L - Nikon / T - Nikon, one year ago today

It was so cold today it felt more like February than April but looking at the forecast it looks as though we will have a sunny and warm weekend. I'm looking forward to it.
T's phone, it turns out, is fine but somehow the internet service didn't get hooked up so she can't send photos to me. That's got to be fixed or I'm afraid this will become a one-sided blog. Tonight I asked her to send something from one year ago. One year ago we were on spring break. We went to Hilton Head with sun bathing in mind, but the weather was chilly and not the best for enjoying the beach. So we had to think of alternative activities. We had fun rummaging thrift stores, ate out at great restaurants, took a 1 hr boat trip to Daufuskie Island and explored the island by golf cart, even went to a spa to have a massage and facial. Turned out to be one of my favorite spring break trips. We took a lot of awesome photos and just had fun being very spontaneous. Do you have a fun spring break you'd like to share? / this photo was taken on our trip to hilton head island one year ago, exactly, for spring break. however unfortunate the lack of sun was for my tan, it was nice for photographs.
we bought this wedding dress at the local salvation army on the island for twenty dollars, went to the beach on that cold and steel-gray day and shot a lot of photos. we had some onlookers but i didn't even care, it was fun. i used the tripod and remote for some of them and mom shot some - we came back with many i was happy with but, as is often the case, not until afterwards did i think of some other things i wished i had done with the shoot - wish i'd pushed a little further, know what i mean?

luminescent / reflecting

L - today / T - one year ago today

I don't have much for tonight. I went outside in the misty rain after I got home - hoping to get some good spring photos. In the evening light the white blossoms seem to become luminescent. This was the only image I was pleased with and it was taken from inside. I have to say I'm ready for the sun to shine again. T didn't send me anything tonight so when she doesn't send a photo for the day I generally go back in iphoto to the exact day last year and pick a photo of hers to go with mine. / This photo was taken in her bedroom. We were in her room - me sitting on her bed and her at her closet going through the items she would need for the prom the next night and discussing what tomorrow would bring. We didn't make much of the prom like many people do - planning several weeks in advance for fancy parties and such. The night before we were still trying to decide which shoes and what necklace she was going to wear with the dress we had gotten just a few days before. When most girls plan to get together with large groups of friends and have fancy parties at their parent's enormous house and take the traditional photos of the group lined up the spiral staircase and out by the poolside or amongst the dogwoods and azaleas and then ride off in limos to go to the dance - we had other plans. And we were excited about them... In some ways it seems like so long ago and then in others it seems just yesterday. Tonight I give you just a shadow - a hint - of a story - I'll tell you the rest in my Monday Memories with PlanetM

dripping / draping

L - coolpix 990 / T- phone pic

I took this photo when I got home. It's a drippy, rainy day and a little chilly too, but see these dogwoods - they're loving the rain and they will be bursting in their white glory come Easter. I'm always amazed at how, no matter when Easter falls, the dogwoods always seem to be in full bloom in time for Easter. / Taylor sent this photo late tonight but she didn't send any words to tell about it. I know that it is some sort of installation at her art building and it looks very interesting - I'd love to know more about it. It took me a minute to figure out what it was exactly. If you can't tell from the small photo, those are pieces of clothing all connected in some fashion - draping off of the second story. Maybe she'll tell us about it later.
