challenge / failure

solo post - L, Nikon

With a new kitty in the house, of course we're going to be photographing her. But this is a challenge. Why do cats always proceed to clean themselves when we get out the camera? Plus, I'm not sure she's very photogenic. I know I am not. But Beth gave us a challenge the other day and agreed to try. She said we might just surprise ourselves and like it. Well I do not like it. The light was bad, my settings were wrong, I was doing it quickly and I failed. But I will give it another shot or have my daughter take one of me instead - maybe then my head won't be cropped out.

I am always in awe when people get amazing photos of their pets. Our dogs usually walk away when I get the camera and I get a photo of their rear ends!

oh, i think it's just fine. it's a great composition.

do you have photoshop? you could tweak it to make the lighting seem better. but as far as composition and catching the cat at the right moment, i think you were spot on!

p.s. thank you for your very thoughtful comment. if we lived close, i'd like to be your friend, too. but since we don't, cyber friends will work perfectly!

have a great long weekend.

I think it's a cool self-portrait - very suggestive of movement - fun! When photographing cats it's always best to do it when they are acting statuesque :)

Cats are funny creatures...they do things in their own time, not when we want them to! What a sweetie...I haven't been here for a while so this is my first peek at your new furry friend!

Cats are a pain to photograph! They are so contrary that they make me laugh. There are two cats who live across the street, though, who will happily pose all day. Lucky me.

Hey, I love your jewelry.

oh. the cats in my life always run to me, suddenly their faces are in the camera. :) and you look wonderful, and, as margie said, thankfully not in the same position as bunny/
