receive / give

Yesterday I received a package in the mail. How exciting. It came all the way from California and held within it treasures from a new friend – it's as if she knew me. I mean look at the items she sent to me. I immediately fell in love with the necklace – I wore it today. In addition, there were raspberry cookies (which were eaten before the photo was taken), a pencil made from a stick and a little bubble bath cupcake.
Several weeks ago I signed up to participate in a summertime swap over at the beautiful la porte rouge's blog. Our swap was to include a music cd made by us, two or more postcards, handmade, bought or both (one of your favorite quotes written behind one*) and finally a surprise of our choice, edible, wearable, readable, it's up to us. What a fun we had putting it together. Taylor helped me. The person I was asked to send a gift to is a 20 yr old young lady so I thought T would have a better idea of the music she might enjoy. She made me a wonderful CD including Fleet Foxes, The Dear Hunter, Manchester Orchestra, Death Cab for Cutie, Bon Iver and Iron & Wine. I hope she enjoys it. And since T and I share our blog, we shared in the gift giving. We included 2 notecards with her photos (vintage subject matter because we saw that was one thing she liked) and a set of her "peace, love and happiness" pinbacks as well. My part was a set of 4 calendar bookmarks and a notebook that I created with my art and recycled paper from work. Now that I look at what we sent it feels a little lacking but it's too late now – it's in the mail.
*above is the quote she left me as well as the quote I wrote on my package.

I sincerely doubt she will find the gift lacking. Not one bit. I know you. I know your gifts, too. She's delighted. I'm just sure of it.

Creative gifts from creative people. I'm afraid I utterly failed last I mailed some things out.

Thanks so much, I'm so gald that you enjoyed what I sent to you. I love those stone necklaces, I have one that I wear all the time. It's made by a local lady, from rocks that she finds at a beach near where I live. Mmmmm cookies, I'm glad that those hit the spot too! And most of all, I'm so gald to have a new friend!
Best wishes, Jennifer
