by the sun / by the moon

T- Nikon

We were prepared and ready to watch the lunar eclipse last night. Going to bed a little earlier and setting our alarm to get up and watch. But here in Atlanta the skies were cloudy and we couldn't see this first and only eclipse of 2010. It was a disappointment. But maybe some of you saw this wondrous site that fell on the early morning hours of our winter solstice - watched as the bright white glow of the moon gave way to a coppery, luminescent orange.

moving forward / waxing moon

L - iphone / T - phone (collaborative)

Today we post our 300th post. It has changed since that first naive post we made back on August 18th 2008. But in some ways I like the simpleness those first entries had - in a way they seem stronger in their simplicity. They represented more of what my original intentions were here - for each of us to share just a tiny bit of our day with each other. Things changed and that's all fine as long as it's for the best. It's changed but has it moved forward? (or should we go back to a photo and one sentence structure). I sometimes feel we struggle with it - she's not always able (or honestly "wants") to send her part and I don't always have words or photos to share either, but we have carried on and have hit almost every day since we started and that feels pretty good. We've definitely gone through ups and downs here on our blog – I'll just consider it an ebb and flow just as the moon wanes and waxes. But tonight being our 300th post, and with the crescent moon shinning down on us, it seems a good time to instill change here at Spread Your Wings - to move forward - to grow. I don't know just how it will happen but, like the moon, it will be a gradual and may recede out of view every once in a while. / tonight mom specifically asked me for a photo of the moon. at first i couldn't see it but i went outside and there it was - a tiny white sliver in the midnight blue sky. i love a crescent moon don't you?

nightfall / afternoon

It was so nice outside I finally had the perfect day to give Evee a haircut. Her hair had gotten so long it took me 2 hours to cut her. She's pretty good about letting me cut it but she gets tired and so do I - so we take short little breaks. She looks pretty cute now and so much thinner. I had planned to post a photo of her but when I saw the photo T sent, I decided to post this one I took yesterday on the way home from Athens. I had to stop to get gas and I snapped this photo then. Don't you agree it's much better with T's photo than a silly picture of my dog? / no it's not the house we're looking to rent. although the boys that live in the place we want are just about as bad. (you have to look hard past their clutter to envision the great potential of the house we're looking at - it's there). this place is actually the back door at Cali n Tito's latin american restaurant where mom and i ate on saturday afternoon. the patio of the restaurant is littered with a bunch of old tvs, sewing machines, and other nostalgia - picnic tables are placed on pea gravel, authentic music plays in the background, and bright flags adorn the walls - brings you to somewhere south of the border. i pass it all the time and have always wanted to eat there - seems that i've been missing out because it was very crowded with the weather being as nice as it was. i'm sure i'll be going back. it really was a coincidence that later on that evening my roommate and i watched dirty dancing: havana nights.
