up high / down low

solo post - L

I just read, today, about other bloggers participating in Hippy Urban Girl's December Views - blogging photos only for the month of December. No need for words. I like this idea. Not having to come up with words will make it so much easier on me. The "words" part is not my strong suit anyway. So here is my first December views. I look forward to seeing yours.

random / planned

"Fiery colors begin their yearly conquest of the hills, propelled by the autumn winds. Fall is the artist."
- Takayuki Ikkaku

This morning there was autumn magic on the lawn – the winds and rain carrying the russet, amber and tangerine-orange leaves down to blanket the ground in a mosaic of color – a work of art really. By this afternoon there will be a thick carpet of color atop the emerald grass and the soft pine straw beds. I will feel a strong desire to rake them up and jump in them – taking me back to childhood. But... I'm too old and besides, it's raining. I'll be satisfied to rustle my feet through them and kick them in the air. / this past weekend we had perfect weather - it got me in the mood for carving a pumpkin. i had the idea all in my head and even sketched it out before i started. i can't say it turned out exactly like i planned but it looks great all lit up. i'll show you that later. : )

summer greens

L - NikonD60 / T - Nikon D40x Sigma 30mm lens

I'm so glad we did our photoshoot the other day. This nice grass field is now gone - cut to the ground – no more whispy wonderful grass. / i help my oma with a photoshoot of a little boy today. she usually takes the photos herself but since i was here i helped. i have to say we had a hard time getting him to relax – he didn't pose like a natural 6 yr old boy.

affects / effects of a sunny day

Can you believe this was taken today - in late November? It looks like springtime to me. The sun was so pretty shining through these leaves with the peek of blue sky above. I like the transparency of the leaves in this light. A warm and sunny day can affect my mood so much - today was perfect / today was the first time mom gave me a theme (i guess because we're together that works) - she said take a photo of a sunny day. strong sun produces nice shadows and i like the simple organic nature that the tree shadows formed on the garage door this morning.

Just a reminder: there are just a few more days to enter the birthday giveaway

hearth / home

I built my first fire of the season. Oh, how I love everything about it, the smell, the glow and sparkle, the crackle, the warmth - it mesmerizes me. Problem is I can't leave it's warmth. Does that happen to you?
I think the first thing Taylor will think when she walks in the house tomorrow is, "oh I miss that smell - this is home" / maybe this weekend we can do another crazy photo shoot like we did last year - remember collecting all those leaves and making this rug to go under my crazy blue chair? you didn't throw away my chair did you?

jacket needed / mosaic of color

I love this time of year when there is a chill in the house in the morning but by afternoon the sun has warmed the bed. / i feel like a kid and want to jump in a pile of leaves
