faded blossom / dusty bloom

solo post - L, Nikon

I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July. Mine was very laid back - spending most of the day just relaxing in the hammock with a new book. But the day was set off to a good start by going to church with my parents. There was uplifting patriotic music and the sermon was one of the best I've ever heard in my life. Truly. Such a great way to start the day. The day ended with a blast by lighting a few flowering fireworks at home. I continue to hear them going off throughout the neighborhood. T has gone off to enjoy some more fireworks with her friends.

simple / pleasure

T- Nikon / L - Nikon

...
Lips are pursed,
A gentle breath
Gives birth
To another
Gem of wonder -

A Bubble,
A Child’s rainbow globe;
Tenuous, momentary,
But a dream
Of beautiful fragility
That captivates
A sense of wonder.

-Paul Holmes

I switched the order of our photos today because it's the way it occurred.
I came home yesterday and it looked like a child had been at my house. Taylor and her friend apparently had some childhood fun blowing bubbles. / I couldn't help picking up that little yellow pipe myself and blowing some. We're never really too old to enjoy this simple pleasure are we? I hope you let the child in you come out to play this holiday weekend. Happy 4th to all.

mint / brand new

L - Nikon / T - Nikon

Mint ice cream is my favorite - so refreshing on a hot summer's night. / Taylor's getting her table setting together for her new apartment living. The vintage napkins (in "mint" condition) and the bird plates she picked out at an antique mall, the cute yellow plates are from World Market. I wish I was the one getting new dinnerware. I've been using the same plates since 1984. Hmm... something's wrong with this picture.
