evening black / winter white

L - Nikon / T - Nikon

I don't "dress up" much - the office Christmas party is about the only evening I buy a special dress, get out eye shadow, stockings, and my patent leather shoes. And because Taylor wasn't home to critic my outfit I had to take a photo and send it to her for approval. (wish i could take better self portraits) She said, "it looks cute, especially with the awesome necklace and shoes". I'm not sure cute was what I was going for but I guess it will do. Do you like to get dressed up in fancy clothes? / people always tell me i look too dressed up for the errands i'm running. i just like wearing pretty things and am too impatient to wait around for the perfect event. i've gotten very good at dressing nice things down with thrift store belts and worn boots, haha. i hope i didn't make too much of a faux-pas by wearing white this winter day.

seashore / thriftstore

solo post - L, Nikon / iphone

You don't always find what you're looking for... but sometimes you do. I was looking for jewels by the sea - she found a jewel of a seat. She's hoping her dad will pick it up for her next time he drives down to Pensacola. I have to admit, it is a unique piece. It's a sleeper too - just $50.

here / there

L - iphone

T's little owls finally found a home today - flying 66 miles to their final resting place in this bright and cheerful room. This vintage lamp was T's first home purchase and she is so proud of it, especially since she bargained with the owner to get a better price. The yellow coverlet was her second home purchase - making this free, but drab, couch a sunny place to sit and read.
For me the move was much easier than I thought that it would. I honestly was dreading it but with the help of her dad, and another strong man, I didn't really have to break my back at all. A bonus – we didn't have to take every load up 4 flights of steps like we did last year. Even the prediction of rain was a false alarm and the weather turned out perfect.
I called her tonight and she already has her room in order; the kitchen cabinets are filled with the pretty, colorful glassware and dishes that she bought; the bathrooms are neat and tidy - she's settled in and loving it.

no style / in style

It had been 2 months since I last got a haircut and I couldn't stand it any longer. I am not one to make an appointment with a stylist on a regular basis, so 9 times out of 10 I will get fed up with my hair one day and go right then to get it cut. I know this isn't the best way to go about it. And tonight might have cured me from ever doing that again. After work I went to a haircuttery I've been before but got a new stylist. For some reason I had a feeling she wasn't a safe bet so I told her to just cut a half inch. She barely wet my hair with a spray bottle and seemed to just start cutting randomly, and it looked like more than a half inch was coming off. I cringed at what I was seeing. After less than 10 minutes she asked how I like it. I honestly could not say I liked it. I said I've never seen my hair look so bad - there is absolutely no style to it. But I also admitted that it was extra frizzy today and I would just have to wait until I washed it and then see what I thought. She said, "I can see by your face you're not happy so I'm not going to charge you." I didn't even offer to pay. I went straight home and washed my hair.....it's not quite as bad as I thought. Should I go back and pay? / i realized i have a lot of necklaces - most of them from thrift stores - i just can't resist them. does it look like an abundance?

memories / treasures

"Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves." ~John Muir Still savoring the memories of the weekend where I found much relaxation. It was so nice to be in the midst of nature, falling asleep to the bubbling creek, waking to the cool fresh air... / Finding someone else’s treasures and making them your own is better than searching for something new any day.
