day 5 - smile

L - Nikon / T - iphone

Or reasons to smile. Spring is almost here. / presents in the mail. ( i received the cutest present from my cousin. She knitted me some hand warmers and presented them on hand decorated hand forms and drew this adorable little fox for my card. she is the most thoughtful little girl i have ever known)

I have to show you the whole package. Check out the little fox on one hand and the adorable little hedgehog on the other. And isn't that a fine job of knitting for an 11 year old? - L

snail mail / puppy tails

L - Nikon / T - phone pic

Ah the simple things. Do we always really appreciate them, or do we too often take them for granted? Christina over at Soul Aperture is inviting us to join her in "the simple things" and for every blog that participates she and her family will donate $1 to Doctors Without Borders. Isn't that the nicest thing?
snail mail, a simple thank you, children's art. Many think it's simpler to just email, call or text but most of us still enjoy old-fashion mail in the box. I am lucky enough to have a most thoughtful little niece who draws me a picture and writes a few words, puts a stamp on it and places it in the mail box for me to receive. It makes my day all the brighter. / puppy breath, soft puppy fur, a wagging tail... i am thankful my friday visits with the puppies at the shelter. it's a simple thing for us to take few minutes out of our day to play and love on the many dogs that have no home. this simple activity puts a smile on my face and i think it makes them a little happier too.

smile / OK

L - Nikon ........ T - Nikon (sign seen today at Spruill Art Center)

This morning my tea tag read "say it straight, simple and with a smile" How appropriate for this day. A simple "thank you" and a smile can mean so much don't you think?
............
my friend from school came to spend thanksgiving with my family and me. it's nice to be someone's solace, especially on a day like today.
this thanksgiving of course i'm not struggling to come up with things that i'm thankful for. i have an abundance. from personal things to things i'm sure we all appreciate – a good friend to confide in and a beautiful autumn day. i do, however, struggle everyday with making my appreciation known to those around me and that's something that i need to work on. so many people in my life have contributed to the person i am today, and to them i owe an extreme thanks. my mom who has been there for me through everything and supported my every decision and fed my creativity, my oma and opa and my grandparents who have taught me so much and given me such wisdom and guidance to ponder, my dad who has encouraged me every step of the way. my uncles and aunts, my best friends, my favorite teachers... at times i don't feel i'm a good enough person to be able to aptly reflect the influences of those close to me. other times, i feel like i'm just putting my own spin on life - an element that is completely and utterly necessary to individuality. i hope that you used this day to make your love and gratitude for your loved ones known [:

smile

solo post - L

"A smile can brighten the darkest day." - Author Unknown
Sometimes it's hard to get motivated for work after a long weekend of relaxation, but I couldn't help but smile when this appeared while brushing my teeth - greeting me to a new and bright day.
Hope you all had a good day back after the holiday weekend.
